Chinese Strategists on Global Security Situation

A world war can be avoided over a long period of time and peace and development can remain the trend in the world, according to a group of Chinese strategists.

Speaking at an annual meeting of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS), experts agree that hegemonism, power politics, and military interventionism still exist in the current international arena and they have even gained new development in recent years.

Many mentioned that today's world is far from a peaceful one, since there are still some factors that might trigger regional military conflicts and wars.

However, they noted that the appeal for peace, stability and development among people in the world runs high and the peaceful force against hegemonism and power politics continues to grow.

As a result, the international situation will continue to develop and the trend of political multi-polarization and economic globalization will not reverse, they noted.

When it comes to China, the Chinese experts noted that China will have more chances than challenges and more hopes than difficulties in the new century.

Established in 1979, the CIISS has forged academic ties with more than 130 institutions in over 40 countries worldwide.
