Electricity Output to Top 1.3 Trillion kwh by YearendGao Yan, general manager of the State Power Corporation of China (SPCC), announced on December 23 that SPCC is going to turn in a sum of 345 billion yuan of electricity earnings by yearend and a yearly profit of 9.2 billion yuan, up 6.1% over last year.Gao spoke at the "2001 Work Symposium of SPCC" that by the end of the year SPCC will have a gross/net asset of 1,265 billion yuan and 499.8billion yuan to show a year-on-year growth of 14.8% and 9.3% respectively. Statistics show that yearend electricity output by CPCC will top 1.35 trillion kw, 9.5% over last year when a national electricity consumption amount of 1,326 billion kw, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%, will be reported. The gross installed capacity of the whole country is predicted to reach 316 million kw. Gao also said that SPCC will make great efforts in construction of the projects of West-East Electricity Transmission, Hongjiadu Hydropower Station, Yinzidu Hydropower Station, three expansion projects of Wujiang River Hydropower Station, as well the electricity transmission project from Baofeng to Luoping, Yunnan Province. Construction of national electricity networks has also witnessed remarkable progress, with construction of transmission power project on the Three Gorges going on smoothly, linking up Northeast and North power networks basically finished and that of regional electricity grids having been well underway as scheduled. Marked advances have also been made in renovation projects of electricity grids in town and country, hence a big raise in high-voltage electricity supply from 30% to 40% in towns and 10% in rural areas in China.
