Vehicle Scrapping Has New Ruling

A new set of standards for vehicle scrapping, long deliberated, has lately been unveiled in China.

Non-commercial and tourism vehicles will likewise have a much extended service life, according to new standards set. Those of old as from 1997 are in no way scientific when considering the accelerated marketalization process we are now in and a daily increased number of vehicles people have come to have of their own in China.

Three types of vehicles are mainly involved including private cars and vehicles used to a business and tourism purpose according to new rules promulgated. Non-commercial vehicles, namely those 9-seat or less, sedans and cross-country cars, will be allowed a service time of 15 years and a service life of ten years by 9- and more-seat non-commercial and tourism vehicles.

Safety and emission tests will be compelled when vehicles should be used out of prescribed time. But a 10-year service time for tourism vehicles and those of non-commercial vehicles with a 9- and more-seat capacity will be not be excepted.
