15 Tibetans to Serve Stewardesses on Chengdu-Lhasa Airliners15 Tibetan girls got their job certificates to dance attendance on flights from China Southwest Airlines (CSWA) on December 21, the first attempt by the Tibetan girls. These girls will begin their work on Chengdu-Lhasa flights as from the first day of the year 2001.As reported, the stewardesses were recruited by CSWA this September. Having trained for three and a half months beginning from September 8, these Tibetan girls have overcome difficulties brought about by living conditions and habits in different regions. They, having well adapted to new environment, managed to learn some 20 subjects of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in regard with general principles on aviation, image-building for stewardess, measures in emergency and cabin service. After an all-round training, they have been granted elementary-level job certificate as flight stewardesses. Donned in their traditional Tibetan outfits, these 15 Tibetan girls will fly over the Southwest China sky the first day of the new Millennium. The distinct Tibetan costume and service will help present a fresh image of an open Tibet to passengers from at home and abroad. And from now on, they will also serve on other CSWA flights.
