Xiaoshan Airport to Open to TrafficXiaoshan Airport in east China's Zhejiang Province passed the state-level quality appraisal and was accepted by the government Friday.Covering 480 hectares of land, with total investment of 2.64 billion yuan (318 million U.S. dollars), the airport is co-invested and managed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. Approved by the State Development Planning Commission, construction on the airport began in 1999. The airport will be a key tourism airport in China, as well as a reserve airport for the Pudong and Hongqiao Airports of Shanghai. The airport, approximately 30 kilometers from the downtown of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, will open to traffic on December 30. |
