Person Involved in Hu Changqing Bribery Case SentencedThe Jingdezhen Intermediate People's Court in east China's Jiangxi province Friday sentenced Zhang Lizu to one year imprisonment for offering bribes to former deputy governor Hu Changqing.Hu Changqing was given the death sentence by a local court in February for accepting more than five million yuan of bribes between 1995 and 1999. Zhang Lizu, former director of the Bureau of Materials and Equipment of Jingdezhen, offered a total of 170,000 yuan (US$20,500) of bribes over four instances from September 1997 to June 1999. The Procuratorate indicted that through the use of bribes, Zhang asked Hu Changqing to arrange work for him and help Zhang's niece to change her job. Seven of the eight bribery cases involving Hu have been handled, according to sources with the court. |
