PLA Troops in Macao Make 1st Rotation

PLA Troops in Macao Make 1st Rotation
The garrison troops of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) conducted a normal rotation on Saturday, December 23.

It was the first rotation since the garrison troops assumed defense duties in Macao on December 20, 1999, when the Macao SAR of China was established.

The rotation was approved by the Central Military Commission in accordance with the Garrison Law of the Macao SAR, which stipulates a personnel rotation system for garrison troops.

The relieving troops came from the military base of the Macao garrison in neighboring Zhuhai City.

To avoid disturbing local residents, the rotation was carried out in early morning. However, many residents gathered along the route waving hands toward the leaving and coming PLA troops.

"The leaving troops have successfully performed their defense responsibility in Macao over the past year," said Liu Yuejun, commander of the PLA Macao Garrison.

"On the other hand, the relieving troops are well qualified to undertake their mission here following one-year strict training in the Zhuhai military base," he said.
