Construction of Pubugou Hydropower Station to Kick off

Following the Er'tan Hydropower Station, another large scale power station - the Pubugou Hydropower Station-is about to be built up along the Dadu River of Sichuan Province.

The project unfolds the prelude for rolling development of water resources of the Dadu River, a significant move to China's development of the West and to the east-west electricity transmission.

Being one of the 12 bases for hydropower development in China, the Dadu River has a hydroelectricity reserve of 31.32 million kw, out of which, 24 million kw are available for exploitation.

So far, two large hydropower stations --- Gongzui and Tongjiezi, with a total installed capacity of 1.3 million kw --- have been completed and there are still enormous potentials for further exploitation.

Located in Hanyuan County, the projected Pubugou Station is the largest water-conservancy project, a reservoir for controlling the water-resources at the middle reach of the Dadu River and it will be jointly developed by the SP Power Development Co. Ltd. and Sichuan Electric Power Co.

With a capacity of 5,177 million cubic meters and an installed capacity of 3.3 million kw, the station will annually generate 14.58 billion kwh of electricity, exceeding that of the Er'tan Hydropower Station.
