Southwest University of Science and Technology EstablishedSouthwest University of Science and Technology was established Thursday in Mianyang city, southwestern China's Sichuan Province.The establishment of the university was approved by the Ministry of Education. The university incorporated Southwest Engineering Institute and Mianyang Economic and Technological Higher Institute. Chinese Institute of Engineering Physics and China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center took part in the construction of the university. Academicians of the above mentioned state-level institute and center will be guest professors in the newly-established university, to help increase the academic level of the university. The new university will have 30 specialties with seven subjects, and 16,000 students. Academician Lin Xiangdi from the Chinese Academy of Engineering serves as president of the university. |
