Cambodia Strengthens Political Stability and Security: Senate PresidentPolitical stability and security in Cambodia are being strengthened, Cambodia's Senate President Chea Sim said Friday, December 22.Addressing the graduated students of the National Institute of Management here this morning, Chea Sim said that "now, Cambodia enjoys full peace and national independence, and our people have bridged the gulf in society in the spirit of sincere national reconciliation." He added that "reforms in various areas are underway and multi- form progress is being made." The president told the graduates that the Cambodian people are due to have a tough time in rebuilding a nation where almost everything had been destroyed to its foundation: human resources and the lifeline for the nation. "Under the clear-sighted leadership of His Royal Highness, our revered King, we will be able to overcome all the stumbling-blocks and hardships to bring about fast development for the nation," Chea Sim said. At present, the Cambodian people must make concerted efforts to surmount the grave consequences triggered by the recent worst flooding to stabilize the people's living condition, to restore production and social infrastructure and retain annual economic growth, he stressed. The Senate president noted that one of the priority tasks for the Royal government is to provide training and develop human resources so as to ensure Cambodia's durable development and long- term competitiveness in the knowledge-based regional and global economy.
