State Councilor Urges Regulation of Market

State Councilor Wu Yi urged officials in charge of the administration of industry and commerce to ensure good order in the market and encourage the sound growth of the economy, Thursday in Beijing.

She said that maintaining a market environment for fair competition is a key role of industry and commerce administrative departments.

She made the remarks at a national conference on administration of industry and commerce, which pened Thursday, December 21.

She said, China is to soon join the World Trade Organization (WTO) and that industry and commerce administrative departments should review market-related regulations and perfect the legal framework, in an effort to create a favorable environment for the country's opening-up to the outside world.

She said China is to crack down on acts that disturb the market, sabotage industrial and agricultural production and infringe on the rights and interests of consumers.
