Complete Human skeleton Found in Han Dynasty Tombs

Chinese archeologists have discovered a group of four tombs dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.- 24 A.D.) at the dam area of the Three Gorges Project.

The four tombs scattered on the southern bank of the Yangtze River in Fengdu County, which will be immersed to make way for the construction of the Three Gorges Water Control Project, the largest of its kind in the world.

Moreover, a complete human skeleton with a bronze axe, copper basin, gold buttons and some pottery figurines, have been unearthed in one of the tombs.

This was the first time that a well-preserved skeleton and trace of coffin were found at the Three Gorges area. They will be important objects for the study of political, cultural and economic systems and funeral services in the region.
