China Favors Overseas Experts Returning Home

China is expecting its overseas students and professionals returning home with favorable policies to serve them.

The newspaper quoted sources at the Ministry of Personnel as saying Wednesday that the central government is now standing by its policy to "support people to study abroad, encourage their return to serve the country, and guarantee them free entry and exit to China," with a view to help them launch their careers in the motherland and strengthen China's potential internationally.

China will also offer high salaries and subsidies in accordance with experts' abilities and the contributions they make to the country.

Besides, such talent will also enjoy privileges in housing, social insurance, jobs and schools for their families and processes for visiting overseas relatives.

Skilled groups are welcomed to hold concurrent posts, give lectures, provide consultation services and run new businesses or projects. Certain policies will guarantee intellectual property rights like copyrights and patents and set up rewards for those who significantly contribute.

More than 200,000 Chinese have gone abroad to study or work since 1978, when the country started its opening up to the outside world.

To date, more than 110,000 of them have returned and are now working for the country in professional fields with specialties learned abroad, official statistics show.
