New Year Concert to Be Staged
The Century Performance Corporation plans to organize a New Year and New Century concert at Beijing's Century Theater on the night of December 31.
The chorus and wind instrument band of the Beijing Children's Palace will appear on the stage, performing such well-known songs as Hometown Beijing, The Same Song, and Hallelujah in a rock-and-roll style, organizers from the corporation said Thursday, December 21.
The performance will also mark the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Children's Palace.
Young blind pianist Xu Zhecheng, from Taiwan, will also join the performance to play a piano concerto and a solo.
The wind instrument band is scheduled to perform jazz music and other Western music pieces.
Founded in 1955, Beijing Children's Palace is one of the largest art training centers in the country. It has cultivated a huge number of well-known artists in China.
With the long-time reputation of "Friendship Angels", the art troupes of the children's palace had visited many countries.
