China's Zhuhai Port Reports Fast Throughput Growth
South China's Zhuhai port, neighboring Hong Kong and Macao, completed the throughput goal set for the whole year by the middle of last month, according to the latest official statistics.
The port completed 11.04 million tons of cargo throughput by the middle of November, 32.2 percent up on the same period last year, the statistics said.
Zhuhai port transported 288,000 TEUs (twenty-feet equivalent unit) of containers during the period, 7.7 percent more than the same period last year, the port authority said.
The growth in throughput was attributed to the improvement in Zhuhai's foreign trade situation.
In addition, the port also handled 4.15 million passengers from January to November, 16.6 percent more than the same period last year.
