Macao Five-Star Satellite TV Station Officially Inaugurated

December 20 saw the "Macao Five-star Satellite TV Station", officially launched, the first one broadcasting in Chinese in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). The TV station has introduced advanced digital technology into its satellite system, which will mainly broadcast Chinese programs to the Asian and Pacific regions.

The formal inauguration of the Macao Five-star Satellite TV Station coincided with the first anniversary of Macao's return to China. The tenet of it is to "Pool in Great Spirits of the Chinese Nation and Spread the up-to-date Information to the World". The station, by fully utilizing the sophisticated world technology in TV industry and abundant TV program resources in China's mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, will provide pleasing entertainment, finance and business, science and technology, and things of fashion as well as a chain of interactive programs to the Chinese speaking people at home and abroad. The program is in particular targeted at the youngsters in the Pacific Ocean Regions.

The station is, as reported, to be run by China Five-star Media Co. Ltd. (Macao) with the management team composed mainly of high-profile Chinese professionals from China's Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore and America.
