China Netcom Admitted in BOBICO's Supporting Group
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Bid Committee (BOBICO) signed a contract on December 20 with China Netcom (CNC, www.cnc.net.cn), awarding CNC a partnership and admitting it into the BOBICO 's Supporting Group.
Liu Jingmin, Executive Vice President of BOBICO, also Vice Mayor of Beijing, said at the contract signing ceremony that the Olympic Games are closely related with the hi-tech development. Expressed in the bid motto "New Beijing, Great Olympics" are BOBICO's three major themes: Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics and People's Olympics. The Hi-tech Olympics advocates incorporating the state-of-the-art technology into all aspects of the games, thereby making the 2008 Olympics a sport pageant tinged well with technological hue.
The China Netcom is a venture incorporated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the Ministry of Railways and Shanghai Municipal government. Established in August 1999 as instructed by the State Council and the Ministry of Information Industry, the CNC is primarily engaged in the construction of a new-generation telecom infrastructure and solution for broadband network.
