Otis to Provide Guangzhou Subway With Barriers
The Otis Elevators Company of the
United States
will provide the Guangzhou No.2 subway with 1, 020 barriers
According to a contract signed Tuesday between the U.S. company and Guangzhou Subway Corp., Otis will also be responsible for installing the barriers at 16 stops on the Guangzhou No.2 Subway, which is now under construction.
The contract is worth 138 million yuan (about US$16.6 million). The barriers are designed to prevent subway passengers from falling onto the track and to eliminate noise and wind produced by trains when entering and exiting stations.
Guangzhou No.2 Subway has a total length of 23 km and is estimated to cost 11.3 billion yuan (about US$1.36 billion). The No.2 Subway is expected to be put into full operation by 2004.
