Gene Pool for Chinese Nation EstablishedAbout 5 percent of the white people can never be infected with HIV, for there is a special kind of immune gene in their body preventing them from being infected. Then what peculiar genes can be found in the 56 ethic groups of China? To answer the question a gene pool of the Chinese nation has been set up for long-term research on this subject.Volunteers from 40 nationalities across the country have submitted their blood samples to the Chinese Academy of Sciences to primarily establish the gene pool of the Chinese nation. The gene research stemmed from scientists' wide agreement that preservation of national genetic resources is of remarkable significance in the development of life science.
