President Jiang Zemin Visits Historic Sites in Macao
President Jiang Zemin shared the happiness of local residents when he visited various historic sites in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Wednesday afternoon with SAR Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah.
At the Hou Kong Middle School, a well-known private institution in the territory, Jiang was warmly greeted by the teaching staff and students. Jiang wrote an inscription for the school and encouraged the students to study hard.
Jiang also visited the Ruins of St. Paul's Church, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Macao, and the Macao Museum, one of eight museums in the territory, which is known for its emplacement and exhibits on the history and culture of Macao.
Jiang's entourage included Qian Qichen, Yu Yongbo, Wang Gang and Liao Hui. The president arrived here Tuesday to attend celebrations of the first anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.
