Taliban Condemn UN Sanctions, Rule Out Osama's Expulsion

The Taliban militia of Afghanistan on Wednesday, December 20, condemned the United Nations Security Council's sanctions on it and declared that there will be no change in its stand on Saudi exile Osama bin Laden.

Taliban ambassador to Pakistan Mulla Abdul Salim Zaeef said that the sanctions cannot force Taliban to expel Osama bin Laden.

"Handing over Osama bin Laden to the United States is out of question. But we are ready for talks to settle the issue," Mu1la Zaeef told the local media.

The UN Security Council passed a joint US-Russian resolution on Tuesday, seeking tough sanctions on Taliban if the latter did not expel Oama bin Laden, close down "terrorist" camps in 30 days. Under the resolution all the UN member states are required to close down Taliban offices abroad.

Mulla Zaeef rejected the allegations in the resolution about the presence of terrorist camps in Taliban-controlled areas and said there is no such camp. "We will not change our Islamic policies even if bombed and killed", Mulla Zaeef said.
