International Math Meeting in Honor of Hua Luogeng

Approximately 300 mathematicians from around the world attended a math meeting Monday in honor of late Chinese mathematician Hua Luogeng.

Among the mathematicians, 15 world-renowned mathematicians will each make a one-hour presentation during the meeting.

Around 30 mathematicians from the United States, Russia and other countries attended the meeting, which was hosted by the Chinese Mathematics Society in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University and Qinghua University.

Hua Luogeng, who was noted for his pioneering research in mathematics, died on June 12, 1985 during his lecture tour in Japan at the age of 75.

Hua paid close attention to the application of his mathematics achievement.

Late Chinese leader Mao Zedong wrote a letter in 1964 in support of Hua's proposal on the application of his critical path method and program evaluation and review technique in life and industrial management.
