Northeast China Airport Closed Due to Heavy Snow

The Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, was closed at 1:50 pm Monday, December 18, due to heavy snow.

Airport sources said it drizzled in the morning and by noon, the drizzle had turned into heavy snow, which caused the closure of the airport.

Six flights were delayed including one from the Republic of Korea, according to airport sources. Approximately 1,000 passengers were stranded at the airport.

At press time, it was still snowing.

Airport sources said that the airport will be closed until 6:00 pm. If the snow continues, all afternoon flights will be canceled, the sources said.
