Reliquiae Donation in Shanghai LegalizedOn December 16, the 24th session of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress approved Shanghai Reliquiae Donation Ordinance, which is so far the first one in advocating legal reliquiae donation, thus promoting the onward march of medical cause in China.The newly introduced bylaw makes it legalized the free use of donated reliquiae in teaching, medical research, clinic dissection and cornea transplanting. According to the ordinance, reliquiae donation is based on the freewill of the donor before his/her death, or the freewill of his/her immediate family members if the donor was not able to decide whether to donate or not before death. Part or the whole body of the dead will be donated for the causes of medical science.
