China Spurs Enterprises to Participate in Intl Trade Through E-business

Sun Zhenyu, vice-minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), said December 14 that MOFTEC is setting down a standard in conformity with China's national condition and in line with international practice in order to spur Chinese enterprises to make full use of e-business in conducting international trade and enhancing their international competitiveness.

Sun said at the forum held on December 14 that e-business represents the future trade development direction, so the Chinese Government attaches great importance and gives all-out support to it. China has listed informationization as a strategic measure in the "10th Five-year Plan", reflecting the high attention given by the central government to informationization construction.

He said that China has paid high attention to the infrastructure construction of e-business and studied ways to improve the legal environment for e-business for the purpose of creating a good soft environment for enterprises to do e-business, ensuring the healthy development of China's e-business and promoting the sustained development of the national economy. At the same time, the payment system and distribution service system, which have been considered as restriction to the development of China's e-business, have undergone constant explorations and been largely improved.

Sun said that the MOFTEC has completed the key network construction project. It has constructed a government management application system on the net in accordance with the general plan of the State, it has completed the nationwide network construction of the import and export quota license management system, export quota electronic bidding invitation system and computer approval management system of processing trade; and the import-export trade statistic management system; it has also set up the China international e-business network, and completed the construction of the standard and security system for this network..
