Both officials reviewed the historical relations between the two countries and their armed forces. Warming up relations with Cuba, including those in the military sphere, is the main purpose of Russian President Vladimir Putin's current four-day official visit to Cuba, which had enjoyed close relations with the former Soviet Union. Putin, the first Russian president to visit Cuba since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, will travel on to Canada Sunday. |
