One Killed, Over 20 Injured by Tornadoes in U.S.

At least one person was killed and over 20 people were injured Saturday as tornadoes touched down in Tuscaloosa of Alabama State, the United States, reports said.

The Tornadoes also destroyed a dozen houses and overturned cars in several areas of Alabama.

The reports quoted spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Don Hartley as saying that the twisters struck just before noon in the state's rural southeastern corner, then hit Tuscaloosa and the northern part of the state as lines of thunderstorms swept across the south.

Hartley said authorities in Tuscaloosa had advance warning of the approaching tornadoes and sounded alarms.

November and December are considered Alabama's secondary tornado season, with twisters still occurring, albeit less frequently than in summer or early fall.
