Sixth China International Food Fair Closed

The sixth China International Food Fair closed in Wuhan Saturday, with a record trading volume of 6.2 billion yuan (US$747 million).

Attending the five-day fair were 25,000 delegates of more than 1000 food enterprises from 17 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and foreign countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea and Singapore.

About 6,000 exhibition stands at the fair displayed 5000 products, including a variety of food, sugar, alcohol, tobacco, beverages, agricultural and sideline products, and food processing machines.

The fair was sponsored by the World Food Symposium and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization as well as the delegates, who exchanged their views on the development and future of the world food industry and China's upcoming entry into the World Trade Organization.

The fair has been successfully staged the past five times, with the total trade volume adding up to 17.8 billion yuan (US$2.1 billion).
