Shenyang-Based GM Joint Venture Makes Chevrolet Blazer

A white Chevrolet Blazer (SUV) rolled off the production line Friday, December 15, in a GM joint venture based in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The making of the Chevrolet Blazer symbolizes the formal operation of the joint venture financed by General Motors Corp. Of the United States and FAW (First Automobile Works) Gold-Cup Auto-Making Company.

The joint venture involves an investment of US$230 million and investing partners equally share the stake of the joint venture.

The joint venture will produce four types of Chevrolet automobiles including S-10 pick-up trucks. Mass production will begin next May.

Miller Ian, general manager of the joint venture, said he believed that Chinese versions of Chevrolet Blazers and pick-up trucks by the joint venture will not only go in line with China's relevant laws and regulations, but also best serve the demands of Chinese clients as technical workers have made improvements based on designs of the original ones.
