On-line Conference to Promote Sino-African Trade

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is preparing for an on-line conference which aims to promote Sino-African economic and trade relations.

Sources from CCPIT said they are presently building a multi-channel and multi-lingual platform which will facilitate on-line business consultations between Chinese and African enterprises during the conference, which is scheduled for February 28, 2001.

So far, 36 African countries have confirmed attendance to the conference. Diplomatic envoys of African countries to China have shown particular interest in the program, and some of them have extended invitations personally to renowned Chinese enterprises.

In addition, CCPIT will hold on-line seminars to provide consulting services on bilateral cooperation in some sectors.

China and Africa are highly complementary in trade and economy. Statistics provided by the General Administration of Customs show that from January to October this year, bilateral trade volume totaled 8.76 billion U.S. dollars, up 68.3 percent from the same period of last year.
