China Hit Hard on Fake Medicine

Sources from the State Drug Administration (SDA) say that China has won great success in crackdown on fake medicine and medical equipment since it launched the fight a month ago. Lots of fake medicine and workshops and lairs have been seized and destroyed as a result of ironhanded measures adopted.

Latest statistics from 18 provinces and cities report that the concerned departments with an inspection force of 19651 person-times have made a check into 12157 medical units. They seized altogether 1058 cases with a market worth of RMB$55.1724 million yuan, destroyed 40 fake medicine workshops and lairs and rounded up 46 suspects from October 26 to December 6, 2000.

Meanwhile, the concerned departments have also stepped up the effort in handling serious cases to make a complete sweep of fake manufacturing and illicit deals in China.
