Peru to Further Develop Relations with China

The Peruvian government will continue to implement the friendly policy towards China and further develop the good relations between the two countries, said Peruvian Prime Minister Javier Perez De Cuellar.

De Cuellar made the remarks on Thursday, December 14, when meeting Yang Jiechi, Deputy Foreign Minister of China who is currently paying a visit to Peru.

He reviewed the good cooperative relationship with China when he held the post of Secretary General of the United Nations for 10 years. He highly appraised the great achievements made by the Chinese people since China adopted the reform and opening policy.

Yang Jiechi said that De Cuellar, as an old friend of the Chinese people, has made great contributions to the friendship between China and Peru. He said the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of the friendly relationship with Peru. China is willing to make unremitting efforts with the Peruvian government in strengthening the smooth and long-lasting cooperative relations between the two countries, he added.

De Cuellar pointed out that the Peruvian government will increase exchange and cooperation with China in the area of international affairs, bilateral trade and culture.
