China's Archive Administration are Heading for Information EraDuring the 10th "Five-Year Plan" period, more efforts will be employed by State Bureau of Archives in advancing the archive administration so as to march it into the information, digital and Internet era. This is learned from the conference held December 12 on Modernization of National Archive Administration and R&D of Software for Archive Administration. The present archive administration in China has lagged far behind than developed countries, especially when entering into the new information era the traditional way of archive administration is confronted with severe challenges. This mainly comes from storing and handling a great capacity of information, which has so far become a problem hindering the growth of archive work and needs to be solved urgently. Beijing Infosoft Co Ltd, a company mainly engaging in the R&D of software for archive administration, gave an introduction and demonstration of their new products that are being used by over 10,000 users in some 30 odd walks of life for archive administration. This has won the high appreciation from the delegates present at the conference. By PD Online Staff Yin Zhili
