China Hands Over Radio Transmitters to Zambia

China handed over the first batch of two FM radio transmitters to Zambia at the Kapiri Mposhi Broadcast Station in Zambia's Central Province on Wednesday.

Addressing the handing-over ceremony, Zambian Minister of Information and Broadcasting Service Newstead Zimba said this event marked another very important moment in the history of

broadcasting in Zambia.

This station in Kapiri-Mposhi is expected to cover a radius of about 100 kilometers and will carry two services, Radio One and Radio Two of the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.

The minister thanked China for its tireless efforts in cooperation with Zambia in broadcasting and many other areas of national development.

At the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Peng Keyu said the first two FM transmitters are successfully installed at the Kapiri Mposhi Broadcast Station showing a good start of the project.

According to a contract concluded between China Radio and TV Corporation for International Techno-Economic Cooperation and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services of Zambia on October 20 this year, China will provide and install 14 FM radio transmitters in Zambia's seven provinces.
