Overseas Investment to China Up Markedly

Overseas investment to China from January to November this year increased 36.28 percent from the same period last year, to US$48.567 billion, latest statistics show.

Figures released by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Thursday, December 14, show that the total number of newly-approved overseas invested companies in China amounted to 19,700, up 29.12 percent.

The amount of actually used overseas investment declined 2.29 percent to US$36.240 billion in the 11 months, mainly because of a decline in contractual investment volume last year as a result of the Asian financial crisis.

The total number of overseas-invested companies reached 361,513, involving a contractual overseas investment volume of US$662.629 billion. Materialized overseas investment was US$344.092 billion.
