Anhui to Cut 4,000 Rural Primary And Secondary Schools
More than 4,000 rural primary and secondary schools are to close in east China's Anhui Province in the coming three years in a move to restructure the layout of the educational institutions.
According to an official from the Education Department of Anhui Province, many of the primary and secondary schools in Anhui's rural areas are small and highly dispersed, reducing the teaching quality and hampering further development.
Anhui province will merge the small, scattered schools into larger ones, and will therefore be able to improve the teaching quality and efficiency of government input through better management.
The schools to be cut account for approximately 15 percent of the total primary and secondary schools in this province.
