Chinese Women Soccer Team Targets on Next World Cup and Olympics
New National Women Soccer Team of China has started its new training period in Panyu, Guangzhou, December 12, aiming at the championship of the 2003 Women Soccer World Cup and of the 2004 Olympic Games.

Those who have been listed into the reorganized team are Pu Wei, Xie Huilin, Pan Lina, Wang Jingxia, Bai Lili from Shanghai Soccer Team, Zhao Lihong, Qiu Haiyan, Xie Caixia, Ye Shimin, He Xingxue from Guangdong, Liu Ying, Li Jie, Shi Mengyu from Beijing, Xiao Zhen, Luo Qingxiu, Guo Pin from Sichuan, Zhang Ouying, Wang Liping, Liu Yali from Hebei, Fan Yunjie, Li Xiuhong, Bai Lifang from Henan, Han Wenxia, Wang Jian, Han Rui from Dalian and Bai Jie from PLA.

Ma Yuan'an and Li Bi will still stay as the coach. And half of the 26 members were chosen to join in the team after the Sydney Olympics. Seven of the newly recruited members are fresh players who were born after 1974, said Ma Yuan'an, the head coach. And the first thing is to make every means possible to train these youngsters into qualified players, and give them more chances to take part in worldly matches, thereby accumulating experiences and improving their skills, Ma added. However, they do not expect to reap excellent results in the near future, even if we have to encounter heavy blows, for no pains no gains as a proverb goes.
