Book on American Missionary Published in East China

A biographic book on Minnie Vantrin, an American missionary who was of considerable help to Chinese women during the Nanjing Massacre, was published Tuesday, December 12, in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.

The book, which was printed by the Nanjing Publishing House, mourns for the victims in the Nanjing Massacre which was committed by Japanese invaders in December 1937.

Vantrin, professor and president of a women's college in Nanjing from 1919-1940, helped many women and children escape from being killed and hurt during the massacre.

After the massacre, she hosted various professional training programs for the women with their families who were broken up and decimated in the time.

Vantrin also wrote diaries, which recorded the truth of the massacre and was published by the Jiangsu People's Publishing House in October this year.
