German Vice-Chancellor Concludes China Visit

Joschka Fischer, vice-chancellor and foreign minister of Germany, ended his visit to China on December 13.

During a meeting with the German guest, Shanghai Mayor Xu Kuangdi said Shanghai and Germany have been engaged in wide-range cooperation and exchanges in economic and cultural fields.

The trade volume between Shanghai and Germany has also been on growing on a yearly base, Xu noted.

Fischer said that the vitality in Shanghai is impressive, adding that he hopes the two sides will increase exchanges and cooperation in technological and educational sectors in the future.

Fischer and his party arrived in Shanghai from Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province this afternoon. The German guests visited a couple of scenic spots in Shanghai and held talks with local university students.
