Official Expelled from CPC

A department-level official in south China's Guangdong Province was recently expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for abusing power.

The Discipline Inspection Commission of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee announced December 13 that Lei Jie was also relieved of his post for violating Party discipline.

Lei was accused of abusing power to give official posts to Ma Ping, a jobless woman, while he was deputy director of the Provincial Land Department. Ma was also dismissed from her post.

A number of officials involved in the case also got disciplinary punishment.
