China Holds Memorial Ceremony for Nanjing Massacre Victims
A memorial ceremony for the victims of Nanjing Massacre was held on the morning of December 13 in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.
The ceremony was held at the square near the Memorial Hall of Nanjing Massacre Victims.
Approximately 2,000 people, including the survivors of the massacre, attended the ceremony.
"We are here mourning over our compatriots just to disclose and criticize Japanese right-wingers' attempt to deny Japan's invasion
into China and revive the militarism, and thus to propel the Sino-Japanese relations to develop in a healthy and smooth manner,"
said Gu Hao, deputy secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
On December 13, 1937, Japanese troops committed the savage massacre after invading Nanjing, killing 300,000 innocent civilians.
During the ceremony, an alarm was sounded throughout Nanjing, warning the people not to forget Nanjing massacre, one of the largest tragedy of the 20th century.
