Premier Zhu Rongji Meets German Vice-Chancellor

Chinese Premier Meets German Vice-Chancellor
Premier Zhu Rongji met with Joschka Fischer, vice-chancellor and foreign minister of Germany, in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang Province Wednesday, December 13.

Premier Zhu spoke highly of the current Sino-German relations, referring to the smooth cooperation in a variety of fields. Zhu also expressed satisfaction that the agreements and cooperative projects reached between the two countries during his visit to Germany earlier this year are being carried out through joint efforts.

Zhu touched upon the on-going China-Germany Environmental Cooperation Conference, saying the conference is of great significance to bilateral coordination in this special sector.

Germany has always followed its words, honored its commitments, and also steadfastly pursued the One-China Policy, said the Premier, adding that China highly appreciates this support.

Zhu also briefed Fischer on the current economic situation in China.

Fischer agreed with Zhu on his evaluation of the two countries bilateral ties, stressing that the German Government regards relations with China as very important and is willing to further increase cooperation in all fields.
