Large Polyester Production Installation Goes Into Operation
The first China-made large installation for polyester production became operational Tuesday in east China's Jiangsu Province.
The equipment, capable of producing 10 tons of polyester annually, will help the industry lower production costs.
The domestically-manufactured equipment was installed in Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co., the largest chemical fiber producer and raw material provider in China.
The company has developed the equipment in conjunction with some universities and research institutes.
The cost of the equipment is less than 200 million yuan (about 24 million U.S. dollars), at least 100 million yuan cheaper than imported ones.
China has over 70 polyester producers with a combine annual output of 4 million tons.
