More Springs Revive in "Spring City"

The citizens of Jinan, the world- famous "Spring City", and capital of east China's Shandong Province, have lost no time in spreading the word that springs that were once dried up are now gushing out crystal water.

The revival of the springs can be attributed to the efforts of the municipal government in protecting water resources and publicizing the significance of saving water.

The government has taken strict measures to tighten the control of water resources in the southern mountainous region, and has prohibited the exploitation of underground water.

With several large water storage projects to be initiated, the annual demand of water in Jinan will be 520 million cubic meters by the year 2005, when all of its springs are expected to be revived.
