DPRK Demands S. Korea Halt Moves to Incite Confrontation
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Tuesday urged South Korean authorities to halt moves designed to incite inter-Korean confrontation.
There are highly disturbing developments in South Korea to block the positive improvement of the inter-Korean relations, the Korean Central News Agency said in an editorial.
"The military white paper for 2000," released recently by the South Korean Defense Ministry, labeled the DPRK as its "principal enemy", while Defense Minister Cho Sung-Tae called for strengthened "military posture" to prevent the non-existent " military threat" from the North, the article noted.
In this regard, the DPRK urged South Korea to withdraw the " theory of principal enemy," and warned that dialogue is meaningless and it is impossible to expect any progress in the inter-Korean relations while the "theory of principal enemy" is advocated.
All the happenings in South Korea are anti-reunification moves which would dampen the desire of the entire nation for reconciliation, cooperation and reunification between the North and South, the editorial pointed out.
Facts go to prove that all these "anti-North rackets" in South Korea are the deliberate and premeditated moves of those who are displeased with the improving inter-Korean relations, it noted.
The South Korean authorities should be held responsible for driving the inter-Korean relations to the phase of confrontation and should stop such behavior detrimental to the implementation of the North-South Joint Declaration.
The inter-Korean ministerial-level talks, the fourth since the June summit, are being held in Pyongyang.
