H&P Sets up Software Test Center in China

The US-based Hewlett-Packard Co. (H&P) has signed a contract with two Tianjin companies to set up a software test center in the northern municipality.

The center, with a total investment of one million US dollars,is expected to be operational in February next year.

Andy Lai, marketing director of China H&P, said this is H&P's first test center in the Chinese mainland, with H&P holding a 50 percent share. The test center will not only provide opportunities to Chinese software personnel, but will also help satisfy international demand for software.

The company set up a test center earlier in Macao. It plans to set up another four on the mainland.

The multinational is ranked 44th among the world's top 500 enterprises, with its annual sales volume exceeding US$48 billion. So far, it has set up nine solely-funded companies or joint ventures in Beijing and Shanghai.

One of the two Tianjin cooperators, Zhenglian Information Engineering Company, is the largest individual-invested wideband Internet service provider in the city.
