New Century Evening Party Held in Beijing
A Foreign Students Greeting New Century Evening Party was lately held by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal government in Beijing Century Theatre. Altogether 200 foreign students from over 60 countries had given an excellent stage performance in the evening party.
Zhang Baoqing, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, and Xu Xi'an, director of Beijing Education Committee, watched the performance with over 1400 foreign students studying in Beijing. And 178 diplomats including 49 ambassadors of 76 countries were invited and took part in the evening party.
A whole set of management system has been evolved in China to guide its educational work for foreign students in the past 50 years. Altogether 350,000 foreign students from 160 countries have studied in China and of these 83,000 have have been given scholarships by the Chinese government.
