Chinese Vice Premier Meets Russian Governor

Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing said on Saturday, December 9, that the bilateral Sino-Russian relations should be strengthened at all levels on a equal and mutually beneficial basis.

Li, who arrived in Russia's Nizhniy Novgorod Friday after visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg, made the remark during his meeting with the governor of Nizhniy Novgorod, Ivan Sklyarov.

Li said that he and Russian leaders had agreed in Moscow to make consistent efforts to push forward the Sino-Russian strategic partnership and enrich the contents of cooperation.

In response to Li's remarks, Sklyarov said that Nizhniy Novgorod is eager to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with China and is ready to pursue partnership with a province in China.

Sklyarov also honored Li the title of honorary guest of Nizhniy Novgorod in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Li toured the headquarters of Russia's largest car manufacturer, Gorky Automobile Co.
