Anniversary of Late Chinese Revolutionary Marked

The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held in Beijing Friday, December 8, a forum to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of He Changgong (1900-1987), the late vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee attended the forum, which was presided over by Wang Zhaoguo, a vice- chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and head of the United Front Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Hu Qili, a vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, addressed the gathering, calling for efforts to learn from He for his constant adherence to the communist ideal whatever difficulties he met.

He joined the CPC in France in 1922 and once served as a ministerial-level official. He was elected a vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee in 1980.
