Sick Giant Panda Rescued and Sent Back to the Wild

A sick giant panda, which was rescued by workers at the Foping Nature Reserve in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has recovered and has been sent back to the wild.

Zhang Jian, a senior engineer and director of the nature reserve, said that the 15-year-old giant panda, named Qing Qing, underwent a two-month treatment and was released on November 30.

Zhang said the giant panda is in good condition.

Qing Qing was found on September 25 and was diagnosed with serious intestinal tract inflammation and other diseases.

An estimated 70 giant pandas lives in the Foping Nature Reserve, which covers 29,000 hectares. The nature reserve has saved the life of 11 giant pandas since its establishment 20 years ago.
